Establishment
Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Trust was established, in December 2010, following a lengthy consultation with the claimant community. The Trustees were elected by Nga Hapu Karanga. The Trust represents the interests of all historical Treaty claims whether registered or unregistered with the Waitangi Tribunal.
Purpose
The Trust’s purpose is to represent the Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-a-Rua claimants in our Treaty claim settlement negotiations with the Crown. The operations of the Trust are governed by the terms of the Trust Deed and its associated operational policies.
The Trust is a common law Trust established to seek a Crown-recognised mandate, and progress all Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-a-Rua claims during settlement negotiations with the Crown.
