Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust: Summer Internship Programme 2024/25
The Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust is committed to providing internship opportunities where our rangatahi can help shape the delivery of key priorities in our Strategic and Annual Plans.
We are now inviting Expressions of Interest for summer internships that run from December 2024 through to February 2025. There are four main focus areas for our Summer Internship Programme 2024/25:
- GIS Mapping
- Taiao
- Corporate Services
- Commercial and Finance
The internships will be based in the Wairarapa, with the potential for one internship being based in Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua.
When you join us on our summer internships, it will include:
- A welcome week – getting set up for success with a designated hoa mahi to help you through
- Dedicated coaching by one of our Pou
- Opportunity to deliver on key strategic and operational priorities of the Trust
- An opportunity to present to the Kaihautū and Settlement Trust Board at the end of the internship providing feedback on future focus areas for consideration
- Opportunity to develop and/or strengthen networks from Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua through to the Wairarapa.
Eligibility
To be eligible for our summer internship programme 2024/25:
- You must be a registered member of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust
- You will be currently undertaking full-time tertiary study or have completed Year 13 of secondary school and have enrolled in full-time study in 2025
- You’ll be available for the duration of the Summer Internship – from December 2024 through to February 2025.

What does the recruitment process for summer internships involve?
We ask that you submit an Expression of Interest form that:
- Confirms your eligibility
- Provides us with information on what you are currently (or about to) study
- What focus area of our Summer Internship Programme 2024/25 would you be most interested in and why
- Confirms your location preference for the duration of the internship (Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua or Wairarapa)
All expressions of interest that are submitted will be assessed by an internal review panel that makes recommendations on who will progress through to the internship programme.
When do expressions of interest close?
Expressions of interest for our 2024/25 summer internship programme close midday on Friday, 29 November 2024, with successful interns coming on board by Monday, 9 December 2024.
What is the length of the Summer Internship?
Our Summer Internship is from December to February.
Do you have internships at other times of the year?
At this stage we are not planning to offer internships during the year.
How many roles are available?
This is our first year of providing a summer internship programme. We are looking at 2-3 roles for 2024/25 depending on the number of expressions of interest we receive that match up with our focus areas and internship locations.
